Karen Purze

When my parents had concurrent medical crises, I helped them make difficult choices about health, housing, finances, and everything else as they gradually lost their independence.

I usually describe the process of navigating all those decisions as "stupidly complicated"...and I want to make it easier for others.

Millions of Americans like me are providing unpaid care and support for family members — often in the form of getting papers and legal matters organized, managing medical events, or running multiple households.

I know there is no way to fully be ready for a family emergency, crisis, or death. But there are some patterns we can learn from and many things we can all do now to better prepare for emergencies and death.

That’s what I share on this site and in my bi-weekly newsletter. Sign up, I'd love to stay in touch!
